The photographs in Public Matters were made in San Francisco during the Reagan-era of the 1980s and published in 2018 as Donald Trump finished his second year as president of the United States. I brought these images forward at that moment to highlight the continuing struggle of immigrants exacerbated by both presidents, and to remind us of the value of engaging in public life through both protest and parade.
